Brazilian footballer Ronaldinho paid homage to former Nigerian teammate and legend Jay-Jay Okocha and Pibe Valderrama when he posted this image below on Instagram with the caption,
“The only number ten I admired”
All three players wore the No. 10 jersey and are regarded as the best of their generations.
Okocha is a quick and skillful two-time FIFA World Cup playmaker, who is widely regarded as the best Nigerian player of his generation and one of the greatest African players of all time.
In 2001, Ronaldinho signed a five-year contract with French club Paris Saint-Germain in a €5 million transfer. Upon his arrival in Paris, Ronaldinho was given the number 21 shirt and inserted into a lineup that included midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha where he would be mentored by the best.
Jay-Jay Okocha left PSG in the summer of 2002 after the FIFA World Cup and Ronaldinho eventually switched to the coveted number 10 shirt in the 2002–03 season.
Regarded as one of the best Colombian and South American footballers of all time, Carlos El Pibe (“The Kid”) Valderrama, also posted on Instagram saying,
“The fantastic Okocha, Ronaldinho so good, so good”
In March 2004, both Okocha and Valderrama were named one of the top 125 living footballers by Pelé.
Regarded to be one of the best players of his generation, Ronaldinho won the FIFA World Player of the Year award in 2004 and 2005. Renowned for his technique, tricks, dribbling, overhead kicks, no-look passes and free kicks.
