Super Eagles Customize T-Shirt in Support of Carl Ikeme’s Battle Against Cancer

Nigeria senior national team players show support and love for Carl Ikeme with a customised T-shirt.

The entire team posed in the tee and posted this inspiring post on Twitter saying, Dear Carl Ikeme We are solidly behind you. You will overcome this setback. You will bounce back stronger and better.”

The 31-year-old has been Super Eagles first-choice since making his debut on September 5 against Tanzania but his place in Gernot Rohr’s squad was dealt a blow on 6 July 2017, when it was announced that Ikeme was diagnosed with acute leukemia after returning abnormal blood tests during a routine pre-season check-up.

According to Rohr, the team will play for the 31-year-old when they face Cameroon in Friday’s Fifa World Cup qualifier.

The team posted this on Twitter saying, “We stand together, in solidarity with our goalkeeper Carl Ikeme We believe he will overcome this challenge and join us again very soon.”

“We put on the T-shirt to show solidarity to our teammate (Ikeme). We want to show him that we are with him and to tell him to be strong. Against Cameroon, all of us will play for him,” Rohr told media.

Against the Indomitable Lions at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, FC Ifeanyi Ubah goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa will man the goalpost.
