The Beat FM Launches Base in London
The Beat FM (Nigerian based radio station) has expanded its brand internationally with the launch of its London base in the United Kingdom. This launch has come in the wake of opportunities generated by the changing demographics abroad, says General Manager Megalectrics, Deji Awokoya.
In a new agreement, Megalectrics Limited (the owners of The Beat 99.9 FM Lagos and The Beat 97.9 FM Ibadan) will be taking over and acquiring Bang Radio (103.6) in North London which they will be rebranding as The Beat London 103.6 FM.

Awokoya says that this has been a long-considered, calculated move as he and his team aims to globalize local talent. “We did our research, and we know that currently, more people are tuning in to the “culture driven” stations. This is corroborated by an entity no less than MOBO (Music Of Black Origin). So for us, this is a strategic move and the beginning of a completely new frontier in the globalization of entertainment”, says Awokoya.
The reveal party of the Beat 103.6 FM London was held at Love and Liquor Lounge on Kilburn High Street in North West London on March 28, 2016 – the same day the station went live. The radio station will be projecting Afrobeats, UK music, RnB, Hip Hop, Reggae, Dancehall, Soca, Garage music and more.
