Wizkid Becomes First Nigerian Artist to Chart on Billboard

In anticipation of his upcoming EP titled “Sounds From the Other Side”, Lagos-born artist Wizkid, makes an epic appearance on Drake’s afro-fusion single “One Dance”, (which also featuring Filipino R&B artist, Kyla). Off Drake’s latest album ‘Views From The 6’, “One Dance” has maintained the number 1 spot on Billboards HOT 100 chart for 9 weeks in a row, making Wizkid the first Nigerian musician in history to chart on U.S. Billboard charts. The recent wave of afrobeat is well represented in this sure-fire club banger with Wizkid flowing on the chorus, while Drake harmonizes the need of one more dance with a slight Nigerian accent on top of a highlife and funky beat.

Collaborating with Drake, Noah “40” Shebib and the rest of the OVO crew is just another testament to how far Wizkid has come since his 2011 album ‘Superstar’ released in Nigeria. Wizkid carries along a fancy roster of artists he’s worked with such as- Akon, Wale, Trey Songz, Chris Brown, R. Kelly and other major hip-hop acts. We’re sure this list will only grow longer by the end of the year.
